SAVAGE, MN - Backed by more than 80 years of service to equipment customers in the upper Great Lakes states, Road Machinery & Supplies Co. will now represent the new generation of purpose-built material handlers from SENNEBOGEN. Constantino Lannes, President of SENNEBOGEN America, recently announced that RMS, based in Savage, MN, has been appointed as an authorized distributor for SENNEBOGEN green line machines. “Road Machinery & Supplies Co. is a well established and highly respected name in the region’s scrap recycling industry,” Lannes said. “We are very proud to have the strength of its reputation behind SENNEBOGEN equipment in Minnesota.”
According to Michael Sill II, the President of RMS, “any company that isn’t growing is probably going backwards!” With a strong economy in the region, Sill sees the SENNEBOGEN line as the right fit for his company to maintain its position in the recycling industry and to expand its sales into new markets. The company’s philosophy of continuous growth and diversification began with Sill’s grandfather, who founded RMS in 1926 continues today. As an award-winning Komatsu equipment dealer, RMS has been supplying and supporting machinery to the scrap industry for many years. RMS became known as a specialist in scrap applications when it began converting off-lease and trade-in excavators into scrap-handlers. Dennis Hook, RMS’ specialist in material-handling equipment, explained how the evolution of scrap-handlers led RMS to the SENNEBOGEN line. “We built a strong business in scrap with retrofit machines,” he says. “We raised the cab, added a Young boom, and produced a very economical, durable machine. Over the past 10 or 12 years, though, tracked equipment has fallen out of favor as the industry has taken on responsibility for protecting groundwater. When they paved over their yards to control runoff, they began looking for rubber-tired machines to protect the asphalt. So we took on a line of wheeled scrap-handlers to meet that need.” The recent move to SENNEBOGEN is another step in that evolution. At RMS, investment and innovation in customer service has always been the cornerstone of the company’s growth strategy. With a strong focus on training for both RMS staff and RMS customers, the company even offers its own portable schoolroom to bring programs to customer sites. Its nine branch locations support a staff of 80 mechanics with 40 field service trucks ready to respond to customer needs. The management of its $9 million parts inventory has earned special recognition from equipment manufacturers. “SENNEBOGEN understands the importance of strong parts support,” says Dennis Hook. “Our recycling customers need a dependable scrap-handler that’s built for the application – and dependability means having the right parts available to meet maintenance schedules and complete repairs quickly. We see the same kind of need in other material-handling industries, such as ports and transfer stations. SENNEBOGEN green line is the product to have, and the SENNEBOGEN parts warehouse in North Carolina ensures support we can count on.” After building a base over three generations with more than 120 scrap-handling units in the field, RMS is ready to lead customers to the new generation of material-handling productivity. |
